Popular pundit and former Celtic striker Chris Sutton has said he expects Dermot Desmond will be making ‘big plans’ to get Celtic back to the top after what has been a disastrous season for the Hoops.

Writing in his column for the Daily Record, Sutton thinks that the Celtic majority shareholder will be making big plans in the background similar to as he did in hiring Brendan Rodgers, due to the Scottish Cup semi-final loss in 2016.

“Dermot Desmond will be making plans to take Celtic back to the top.

“Whatever they are, I’ll bet he’s just upgraded them as Dave King’s words filtered into his ears.

“I would imagine King’s celebratory chat about Celtic folding like a pack of cards and talk of uncorking bottles of wine from 1872 will have had Desmond taking a large sip of whatever is in his cup at the dinner table and tightening his resolve.

“Supporters at Parkhead once unveiled a banner in a corner of the stadium which warned against their club sleeping at the wheel.

“Effectively, that is what King has just accused Desmond and Peter Lawwell of doing.

“His chat about Celtic not making use of their resources properly will be like a red rag to a bull.

“Put it this way, if it’s not, it should be.”

Over the last few months, fans have been left frustrated by the lack of action from Dermot Desmond and the board so you would have to hope a big rebuild with plans ahead is on the way.

After such a poor season, it is the least you expect and it seems to have started well with the appointment of new CEO next season Dominic McKay.

A huge appointment would go a long name mending the relationship with the fans so Desmond has to act on this and try to push the boat out with a new appointment for next season.

  1. King must have missed that 9 in a row and world breaking Quadruple Treble!
I know he’s got a wonky keeker, but that’s hardly an excuse, lol!

  2. Desmond’s inaction speaks volumes, sounds like he is not interested in doing anything to regain momentum, as long as does not have to put his hand in his pocket, and happy to let his CEO make sure Celtic do not losses, looks more interested in golf than Celtic.

  3. The money will be put down and a new manager and 6 or 7 maybe 8 new faces for our new look team.

Am as sure as i can be SC is the going be our new manager and he will have £30 plus million to spend on his own players, going be a great watch next season as we take back what was ours for 9 seasons in a row so we ready our self to go again…

  4. To be fair we kept all our top players last summer & plenty of funds were released by the board but vast majority was totally wasted because our manager is so poor.

No point in spending £30m again for the sake of it if its wasted again.

Hopefully new manager, whoever he is, can judge a player.

  5. Typical gobsh1te current bun, King is only running off at the mouth cause he thinks he’s the reason for our demise. That reminds me, is King still banned from South Africa, does he know that his basket case of a club is going to get shafted by Ashley, for MANY millions, does he still think they (sic) are going for 55, when it is in fact ONE? Away ya halfwit King, a corner boy wi no idea!
