DARREN BENT has continued to try and push for a move north of the border after admitting he had been linked with a move to Celtic and/or The Rangers before but the ‘timing’ didn’t match up.
After seeing Jermain Defoe head up to try and fail to help Steven Gerrard win a trophy, Darren believes to move to either club would be fascinating and something he would want to do.
Bent, 35, has been without a club since leaving Derby in the summer and while he may fancy a move there’s no chance that will be to Celtic. Maybe he can get have a word with Steven Gerrard about joining the Ibrox club, they seem to like overpaid strikers from down south.
Speaking about the potential move, Bent said:
“It’s something I’ve looked at before. he told SunSport. “There was a few links there and a few clubs, but it was back in the day. The timing wasn’t great for me as things were going pretty well for me down here
“I think it’s fascinating though, as when you talk about Rangers and Celtic, you’re talking about arguably two of the biggest clubs in world football.
“It’s definitely something I would want to do.”
It’s safe to say that ship has sailed at this point for the former England striker. Celtic aren’t in the business of retirement plans for ex-Premier league stars.
No thank you. Maybe Sevco might be interested.
They are always trawling the knacker’s yard.
