‘Destroying the team’ – Michael Stewart’s Celtic Verdict

MICHAEL STEWART has been talking Celtic in his latest SunSport column and believes Neil Lennon needs to correct two things going forward.

– Brown can’t play three games a week and should make way for other midfielders in certain games.

– The 3-5-2 formation has to go because it’s it’s destroying the team in Stewart’s on words.

Referencing Celtic’s back to back defeats this week, Stewart believes the Celtic captain being used wisely is the way forward and if Brown plays his cards right – he could play until he’s 40 but leaving him out there constantly isn’t doing Celtic or Brown any favours.

With regards to the formation which was ditched at half time during the defeat to Milan. The pundit thinks Shane Duffy looked much more comfortable in a defensive duo rather than part of a three.

“Brown playing 90 minutes three times a week while other midfielders sit on the bench isn’t helping anyone.

“The likes of Turnbull need space and time to develop and you can see him stepping in and really blossoming.

“Shane Duffy is the other Celtic leader getting a doing right now and he will know himself he can play better.

“Now, I am not saying moving from a back three to a back four will solve all the concerns from recent games.

“But Celtic’s system has been THE biggest issue as Duffy has not fully convinced since arriving on loan from Brighton.

“Persevering with the three at the back was basically destroying the team. It just wasn’t working.”

We will find out on Sunday how serious Neil Lennon is about going with a 4-3-3 over a 3-5-2 set up.
