Reports in Ireland suggest JONNY HAYES will be out for 4-6 months after a scan revealed the player has suffered a broken tibia after a challenge from Dundee’s Josh Meekings.
The Irishman who was just starting to come onto a game for his new club will be gutted at the news, as are the fans.
Hayes and Meekings went for the ball in Celtic’s 2-0 win over the Tayside club and all of Meekings wait landed on the ankle of Hayes.
The midfielder immediately realised something was wrong and called to the bench, Hayes was subsequently stretchered off.
Brendan Rodgers was hopeful the player didn’t come off too bad but today’s news is a blow to the manager and Jonny.
Jonny will now miss the rest of this season and the start of next.
We wish him all the best with his recovery, he is at a great club with the best doctors on hand.
We await confirmation from the club about this, with the story of his impending surgery broken by the Irish Independent.
Devastating 4 him hell be back
Speedy recovery Jonny, here’s hoping you come back in good form.
Meekins knew exactly what he was doing
That’s exactly what I thought too.HH?
It was a nasty dangerous torpedo tackle which is a stonewall red in EFL. When will SFA waken up and protect players from premeditated thugs!
Poor Lhad, just as he was starting to get something remotely resembling a run in the first team this goes and happens. HH Jonny Hayes.
It was a nasty dangerous torpedo tackle which is red card in the EFL. When will the SFA waken up to the 21st century and protect players from premeditated thuggery!!
