Dinamo Zagreb manager Nenad Bjelica is under increasing pressure ahead of his side’s match against Celtic in the UEFA Champions League next Tuesday.

The Hoops travel to face the Croatian champions, eager to pick up three points that would all but guarantee their place in the last 16 playoffs.

Winning in Zagreb might not be that simple, but Dinamo’s form this season has been inherently inconsistent.

In Europe, they have registered seven points from their opening six matches, a respectable return. On the domestic scene, however, they have floundered, failing to find stability.

Zagreb currently sit third in Croatia’s top flight, having won just three of their last 11 league games.

Boss Bjelica is under fire for his side’s poor form and understands he has to change things: “We haven’t achieved what we expected in the league, but in the Champions League, we have exceeded expectations,” he said (SunSport).

“I am trying to get the most out of the team.

“I am well aware of the situation here and the consequences of not winning enough games.

“It’s not just this match, but several.”

Zagreb have a home league fixture against Slaven on Friday night before they begin preparations for the Hoops’ visit next Tuesday.

Although the Croatians have been inconsistent in their form this season, it won’t be an easy tie for Celtic.

Firstly, though, the Bhoys have to negotiate a duo of league games before shifting their focus back towards the European scene.

They can extend their lead at the top of the Scottish Premiership with a win over Aberdeen at Pittodrie tomorrow evening. Brendan Rodgers’ men will then look towards Hibernian on Saturday, as the Champions League soon comes back into the picture.
