The clock is quickly ticking down to the transfer deadline with the window set to close at 12pm on Thursday 1 September.

Celtic have had a very successful window so far this summer with eight incoming singings that have added great depth to the squad.

Two of the outstanding additions were undoubtedly Jota and Cameron Carter-Vickers who both cost around £6 million. Although Celtic had a option to buy in both their loan deals, the club still had to make the move happen permanently with the process likely speeded due to Celtic automatic entry in the Champions League.

They were standout performers last season and have helped the Hoops get the season of to a flier after the first five fixtures.

In addition to both, Ange Postecoglou also added Daizen Maeda, Aaron Mooy, Alexandro Bernabei, Benjamin Siegrest, Sead Haksabanovic and Moritz Jenz to his arsenal.

It’s been a busy window and the manager has remained clear that the club will remain active as the market is ever changing.

Many Celtic fans still have a concern about a defensive midfielder with the cover currently consisting of James McCarthy, Yosuke Ideguchi, Liam Shaw and Scott Robertson if anything was to happen to Callum McGregor.

The Hoops have been previously linked with Jani Atanasov but everything has went quiet on that front however contained within @AnthonyRJoseph update at the beginning of June he did say that the Hoops were “on the lookout” for a defensive midfielder.

The majority of the other boxes have been ticked so it will be interesting to see what unfolds in the next day.

One possible option which could be explored is Danish midfielder Oliver Abildgaard who the Daily Record reported on wanting to quit Rubin Kazan along with winger Sead Haksabanovic.

Having got two deals over the line with Kazan in the past year it could be an option which is explored by Celtic with very little risk. The Hoops got a cut price deal on Haksabanovic and a further defensive midfielder would add greater depth to the side.

It has been a successful window for Celtic as they have also got some big earners out the door but another addition would no doubt be beneficial.
