Yesterday fans heard for the first time from in-coming CEO Dominic McKay who will officially be replacing Peter Lawwell on the 1st of July.

Speaking in his interview with Celtic TV after the appointment of Ange Postecoglou as next Celtic manager, McKay was keen to state on multiple occasions that the club is looking to ‘modernise’, both on and off the field.

Whilst this sounds great for us fans who have been calling for such moves to be made in recent months, it probably does need some clarity as to what this means for the club?

Many thought it would mean introducing a Director of Football appointment, who would overlook all footballing operations. But with the breakdown in talks between the club and Fergal Harkin, that doesn’t look as likely anymore.

So, where do we go next?

Are we continuing our pursuit of a Director of Football or such a position with a similar name, or are we now looking to go a different route?

Now that we finally have a first-team manager, you would hope this could allow even more focus to go on such topics, which could be crucial for the club in the future.

I suppose only time will tell, and hopefully, we get more answers in the coming weeks with possible appointments of McKay beginning his role on an official basis.
