Dominic McKay has left Celtic but he’s also taken himself off social media after today’s revelation he would NOT be continuing as the Celtic Chief Executive.

Celtic custodian of eight years and lawyer Michael Nicholson has now been put in charge on an interim basis.

Today’s news is a proper shock to the system after the supporters were buying into McKay’s idea of modernisation to help the club reach its potential.

The former SRU boss came in during the summer to shadow Peter Lawwell before taking over in July. After seeing out the transfer window, many expected McKay to focus on the restructuring of the club – this is now in tatters.

‘Personal reasons’ have been cited for his departure but you have to read between the lines.

Was there a difference of opinion in the direction of Celtic so early on? Celtic as a board are not progressive and have run the club the way Peter Lawwell set things up for so long.

Any new person coming in from the outside would have been a shock to the system for the board and Dom would have also felt that same shock.

I wouldn’t be surprised to see Dom pitch up somewhere else in the near future.

  1. Absolutely ridiculous. Hope Lawwell did not have a say in this so soon after taking leave from a prime job. We need stability and fresh ideas or we will continue as dinosaurs. HH!

  2. Dom McKay has left because he’ll have had an idea, and he’ll have ran it by the board out of common courtesy and they’ve BLOCKED THE IDEA. END OF.

Whatever it was it was not ‘personal/family circumstances’ that’s used the World over as a BS excuse and I’d wager heavily that it’s the former and not the latter.

This spells T-rouble for January transfer window, thankfully we acquired more then enough in the window past, so; the fitba side of things is at least is covered until January

    HH?

  3. Some dubious commentary going on. In the end it’s the club and the manager who the players play for and not the CEO, so all is well. As for the reasons for Dom’s exit we have nothing but his word and that of the club’s to go on, so until proven differently we must accept that. I’d also add that I hope the personal reasons to which Dom cites are not of a health related issue with either himself or his loved ones and that he continues on in life as successful as Celtic shall be. Thank you Dom, and all the best.

  4. Bit off more than he could ever consume, by the sound of it. Not a good thing to put yet one more bean counter in charge of CFCPLC (of course it’s not the Managers responciblity to spend their money) That money is every Recent supporters, all the folks who spent any amount of money, keeping Cfc Plc afloat over the last 18 years or so.
So hopefully Cfc Plc, get someone in the boardroom who can address the teams further dealings. From today to 10 years in the future. Good luck Dom, pity it never worked out for you. Remain a supporter though.
