Dominic McKay has watched his last Scottish Rugby tie as an executive of the SRU as the country smashed Italy 52-10.

McKay is around three months away from officially taking over at the club, although sources have told CeltsAreHere, McKay is already being kept in the loop with Peter Lawwell making sure the new man has a grasp of what’s going on when he walks into the building.

Celtic have a major summer rebuild on their hands and McKay will have a massive say on what direction Celtic FC take over the next five years.

McKay will have to oversee a new manager settling in as well as a sporting director with who he’ll be working closely.

The biggest compliment McKay could gain over the next few years is not having his name brought up very much. Peter Lawwell became such a massive character in the media and among the fans. A chief executive who quietly goes about their business and doesn’t have a say in footballing matters.

We once spoke to a former Celtic staff member who told us you couldn’t change a light bulb in Celtic Park without Peter giving them the go-ahead. Some autonomy among departments is needed.
