Leigh Griffiths was subbed off at half time during the 2-1 defeat to St Mirren at the weekend, the striker then was left on the bench for the Kilmarnock game. Even though the club were winning 2 then 3-0, the Celtic manager went to his bench and gave game time to Patryk Klimala and Moi Elyounoussi in the latter stages.

Ajeti came in for Leigh tonight and won the team a penalty as well as get on the score sheet, the Swiss striker should now have an opportunity for a run of games to see if he can keep up his scoring stats.

For Leigh Griffiths, he finds himself on the outside very abruptly. Could Neil Lennon see the frontman as an impact player during games where things aren’t going our way or is he simply ready to give the new bhoys a proper go?

Celtic fans have been talking about the striker’s omission but it’s too early to tell what Neil Lennon is thinking when it comes to his squad selection.

It was only weeks ago he backed Vassilis Barkas at number one only to drop him for Scott Bain.

  1. Griffiths is a goal scorer, you cant have enough of those, what he needs is a manager to control him, if he leaves he will just go to Hibs and score every week and then fans will be saying why did we get rid of him, so for me he stays as is always good for a goal.

  2. What John said.
Leigh is a born born goal scorer, an old fashioned poacher.
Don,t get me wrong he scored a few belters, but if anyone gets careless around the box, the Griff is the guy you want lurking there to stick it away, and he’s not there by accident.
I’m a Griff fan… But.. he’s not done himself any favours of late.
He had some problems, no problem, but his behaviour regards fitness and such lately is, well, unprofessional to say the least.
He really is his own worse enemy, but I think I would rather have him p!?ing out the tent than p!?ing in!

  3. agree with these sentiments about Griffiths scoring . Get a proper manager and coaching staff and then we will know.Too many “not fit enough” claims from Lennon and I simply dont believe him along with slippy level of excuses this season.
