Oli Abildgaard becomes the first official Celtic player exit of deadline day. The player has signed on with Serie A side Hellas Verona for the rest of the season. Thus ending his short stint with the Scottish Champions.

The Danish midfielder was hoping to make the breakthrough at Celtic this season, but he hasn’t started one single match.

It was reported earlier in the day that his home club town of Aalborg were looking to bring him in for the rest of the season. The Italian side swooped in quite quickly to get a deal done and he now leaves Celtic with immediate effect.

Abildgaard was brought in as a defensive midfielder. Still, when Callum McGregor went down with an injury earlier in the season, Matt O’Riley was favoured in the holding position rather than Abildgaard, struggling to stay fit.

Sometimes transfers don’t work out. Fans were hopeful about what Oliver could do during his one-year deal with Celtic, but it’s just not panned out for him. We wish him all the best in Italy.
