Celtic have missed out on a top summer target with the news Alfie Doughty has signed for Stoke City.
Alfie was the subject of two bids from the club this summer but Charlton rebuffed both, hoping Alfie would sign a new deal.
The left sided wing back didn’t sign a new contract and made it clear to Charlton his future was elsewhere. The news softened the English club’s stance on selling the player this month and that’s what they’ve done.

Celtic were keen on getting Alfie in on a pre-contract but Stoke were willing to pay a small fee to get the Englishman in now, even though he’s still injured and not due back to training until next month.
Celtic have made no signings even though they’re in desperate need of reinforcements this month.
The club missing out on targets is all too common.
