YUKI KOBAYASHI’s transfer to Celtic has been described as a “done deal” by Japanese-based journalist Lionel Piguet.

The 22-year-old defender was linked to Celtic last week, with negotiations continuing throughout the week. The Vissel Kobe man is now set to join Celtic in the January transfer window.

Kobayashi started Vissel Kobe’s match against Yokohama F. Marinos during the night. He was subbed off before Ange’s former side scored their second and third goals, which secured the Championship for the side, with Kevin Muscat managing the team.

It’ll be interesting to see where he fits in with Jenx and Starfelt battling it out for the space next to Carter-Vickers in the Celtic defence. With the Japanese defender’s arrival, does this suggest that Ange won’t be taking up on Jenz’s option to buy, which was included in the negotiations when he joined on a season-long loan? Or could Welsh be heading for the exit?

One thing’s for sure, Ange is building something special at Celtic, and players are buying into it.
