RONNY DEILA has been named the new manager of Club Brugge after the Belgian giants worked out a compensation package with his current club Standard Liege.

This is a big move for Ronny who only joined Standard back in June of last year. After a successful season with Liege, he has been headhunted by Brugge.

The former Celtic manager who is still thought of fondly in the East End of Glasgow has the opportunity to take another step in his career that’s taken him from Glasgow to New York City.

During his time at the club, Ronny was cheated out of a treble with officials missing an incredible handball incident during the semi-final of the Scottish Cup against Inverness.

He was a good coach for Celtic but was met with a lot of resistance from some of the resident players who didn’t take kindly to his coaching methods and dietary demands.

Brendan Rodgers has spoken in the past about how well Ronny had set up Lennoxtown and how it was almost seamless for him to come in and pick up where Deila left off.

He had the correct methods but in hindsight didn’t have the tools to command the respect of his players at times the way Brendan Rodgers could.

We wish him all the best at Brugge.

  1. Winning that semi final against Inverness would not have garaunteed Ronny a treble , they would have made the final but who’s to say we would have definitely won that . Supposition and Wishfull thinking only.
