We had reports only last week linking Celtic with two Irish internationals at Burnley, Robbie Brady and Jeff Hendrick.

Both players had run into the last year of their premier league contracts and were set to become free agents in the summer. Numerous reports linked Celtic with the pair only last week. The Irish duo were also been linked with other English clubs but reports today suggest the players are going nowhere.

According to Irish Weblog the 42, Burnley will now look to extend the players contracts for at least another year. It was unsure how Celtic would afford the wages of two internationalists playing in the premier league despite no transfer fee involved.

Burnley have an option to trigger a clause in Brady’s contract to keep him in England for at least another year. With the chaos the Coronavirus has caused in football it is unlikely clubs will want players leaving their clubs for free when the money to replace them could be tight.

This is not the first time Hendrick has been linked to Celtic but it is impossible to see him knocking anyone out of the Hoops current starting line up. The Bhoys strongest position is in the middle of the park with the likes of McGreogr, Brown, Christie, Ntcham and Rogic already playing for three available starting places.
