For many after the change by Brendan Rodgers at the start of the year, it has brought an end to Craig Gordon’s first team spell at Celtic.

Scott Bain coming in and not losing his place means the goalkeeper is watching from the sidelines as the younger Celt solidifies his place. This has left many to believe Gordon’s Celtic career is all but over, but try telling that to the shot-stopper.

Gordon, 36, has vowed to do all he can to try and get back in the team for club and country and oust the same man twice. He admits it’s going to be hard at club level with Scott not doing much wrong since he came in at the start of 2019.

“Scott’s come into the Celtic team and hardly put a foot wrong. He deserved his chance to go in there.” Gordon told CelticTV

“But I’m hopeful I might get back there yet. There are a few injuries at the moment.

“Hopefully I can get back in and challenge him at Celtic and for the international spot as well.”

Bain is set to start in this weekends Glasgow Derby and could further solidify his spot as number one if he puts in a top performance on the day.

Gordon’s last game was against The Rangers in the 1-0 defeat at Ibrox at the end of 2018.
