On Thursday afternoon, it was announced that Scottish Premiership side Dundee had appointed Mark McGhee as the new permanent boss at Dens Park.

The side that currently sits just above the bottom spot in the Premiership moved quickly to replace James McPake after his surprise sacking, bringing in the former Aberdeen and Motherwell manager, who also had a spell in the Green and White Hoops as a player.

However, as they get set for a trip to Parkhead, they could potentially be without their new boss on the touchline.

As reported by the Dundee Courier, the Dark Blues are set to be without McGhee due to a ban he received during his final game as Motherwell boss, in a 7-2 defeat against former side Aberdeen in 2017.

With 13 games left to go this season, the 64-year old will be missing six of those due to this ban, starting with the game this coming Sunday.

Celtic will go into the game hoping to bounce back from Thursday night’s 3-1 loss against Bodo/Glimt and have enjoyed their previous outings against Dundee this campaign, with the 6-0 win at Celtic Park earlier in the season setting a marker of what was to come under Ange Postecoglou.

He will be hoping for a similar result and performance this weekend, with the opposition boss sitting in the stands for his first game in charge.

  1. Another 6-0 is needed to get some way over Thursday’s tanking. Celtic are a long way away from where they need to be. And with their tails well and truly up after result of the week in Europe no slip ups can be allowed. Celtic back to second favourites in the league.
