It might not go down too well with his parent club but Oli Burke seems to be leaning towards a Celtic stay if it’s up to him at the end of the season.

The young Scottish international spoke about being starved of football and desperately wanting to be in an environment where he can play regularly and really show what he can do.

“It’s not really anything that’s been spoken about yet, but I’m sure if I continue to do well I’ll want to stay here.” he told SunSport.

“Knowing I’m going to play football, I think that’s the main thing for me now, especially at a young age.

“I’ve been sort of starved of football for the past couple of years, so that’s all I want to do.”

It’s unlikely West Brom Fans will be thrilled by this admission.

Burke bagged a brace against St Mirren on Wednesday night and is eager to get more game time under his belt as soon as possible. It’s likely the player will take up his more natural role on the wing once Rodgers has more options in attack.

Odsonne Edouard is pushing to be back in the squad for the Hamilton game after a full week of training. It’s unlikely he would start the match at this point.

Burke could have another run out as a striker when the Accies come to town.

The midfielder is currently valued at €10million on TransferMarkt.com and would cost a large outlay to keep on a permanent basis.

  1. West Brom fans won’t care about the admission. They are English, and therefore arrogant enough to think anything he does in Scotland doesn’t count.
