Journalist Derek McGregor has been weighing in on the Celtic manager’s position and spoke about the potential pitfalls of Celtic chasing Eddie Howe.

Speaking to the Celtic Huddle podcast, the SunSport chief believes the club should be taking a position the Celtic job sells itself and if there’s hesitation on any potential candidates part then Celtic should perhaps look elsewhere.

“I think Eddie Howe is keeping an eye on a number of Premier League positions down south, I think possibly that’s the reason why he’s not ready to commit to Celtic if he has been approached or sounded out.

“I think Celtic are entitled to say they are massive club if there’s hesitation with a potential candidate, they would have a right to say ‘that’s not what we need’, we instinctively not only want people to be excited but jump at the chance.

“Dermot Desmond has looked other Celtic gaffers in the eye and made his decision from there.”

Eddie Howe has been heavily linked with the job and given he is currently unattached, there would be no real reason for a deal not being done asap if both parties were keen.

There’s an argument Celtic are waiting on appointing a Director of Football before they go in and get their new manager, so there’s a chance Eddie hasn’t been formally approached.

Celtic fans are desperate to start looking forward and that can only really begin when the new man is appointed.

Surely it’s before the season ticket renewals start hitting doormats.
