EDDIE HOWE’s name has constantly been linked with the Celtic job, even before Neil Lennon resigned as manager.

The Englishman is looking to get back into football and his profile to this point makes him one of the most outstanding candidates Celtic could secure.

As the days and weeks tick down, it’s vital the club make the decision over the new manager.

Speaking to Sun Sports, Alan Stubbs believed Howe is the man for the job:

“Celtic have got a huge challenge on their hands now.

“It’s so important the managerial appointment that they make. Looking at all the candidates that are there right now, for me Eddie Howe jumps out as the best one for it.

“I think he’s a really good coach. He’s done really well at Bournemouth in terms of the job he did keeping them in the Premier League for years.

“At this moment looking at the list of names that is there, Eddie Howe would be the one for me.”

Celtic have been going about their business very quietly to this point. The Parkhead club has said very little to push the narrative on one candidates direction.

I think now season ticket renewals are just around the corner, we can expect some movement.

A new manager being announced before hand to take over in the summer seems like the best way to go forward.

Celtic fans have an idea of the board’s ambition and can choose whether to put their hands in their pocket during this difficult financial time for just about every one.

  1. Keeping a team from being kicked out the top league is not as great a feather in your hat as being in top 6,there are many like him trying to stay there and that is what makes me think a manager that knows how to win even cups are a better bet, even a second in command from a top 6 team wanting to go it a loan would be the best bet…

  2. What might go in his favour though is….well look over at SG with therangers, first job, press didn’t comment once about his lack of experience, indeed, it was his youth coaching creds that were bigged up. You could argue Howe has been used to preparing his teams for playing City, Man U, Liverpool etc with mixed results.
My worry is more to do with the cauldron of expectation up here. He needs time to settle and it’s vital any new manager is given that time. Yes, we need to win but we need patience to build for the next few years. If Howe is appointed, he might see this as a 5 year project, build a team before taking a Leicester type job as he gets older. That’s fine. If we are in a position of strength, then any change in future would hopefully be well planned with lots of time to transition. We’ll know soon enough
