Rodgers’ deadline day deal appears steadfast at first glance and while there is plenty for fans to be excited for, Edouard’s career history thus far should be considered when speculating over the success he will have for Celtic.

Despite the confirmation of a season-long loan with the option to buy, an add-on Rodgers will have fought to secure after failing to bring back Patrick Roberts on a permanent deal, the young man’s career has reached a surprising mix of highs and lows up to this point.

Edouard has several impressive accolades under his belt despite his young age, claiming the player of the tournament after the U17 Euro championships – scoring thrice in the final opposite a German squad yet to concede over the course of the tournament at the forefront of his resumé.

On the other hand, only seven months ago, the young French striker has his loan deal at Ligue 1 side, Toulouse, terminated. The young internationalist had an indiscretion involving an air rifle which resulted in a 4-month suspended prison sentence on top of an underwhelming string of performances at the French outfit – scoring one goal in 17 appearances.

Ultimately, this deal represents a risk which the Celtic support would do good to back with Rodgers’ himself confident in the teenager’s abilities as well his abilities to get the most out of the striker.

Edouard will have the opportunity to play against his parent club (PSG) on the 12th of this month at Celtic Park and may even get a debut this Friday if Griffiths is rested for Champions League showdown.

  1. I think Celtic will surprise us all this year in the champions league I am sure we will beat one of the best team’s in the group as wee have so meany times in the past and I am sure we will get 3rd place in the group but my worry is that we will burn out and injury to our players will be a set back I think we should put a second team out and keep our best players for the big games and forget about our run it would be good for Scottish football and the players
