Mail Sport are this evening reporting Odsonne Edouard is closing in on a deal to reunite with former boss Brendan Rodgers at Leicester at the end of the season.
Edouard comes into the final 12 months of his contract in the summer and the players wants to leave Parkhead.
Craig Hope and Simon Jones of the Daily Mail write Celtic are only going to get around £15m for the deal which would be a significant downgrade in recent speculation linking the striker with Arsenal.
Mail Sport hit these bullet points:
• Odsonne Edouard has indicated he wants to joins Brendan Rodgers at Leicester
• Foxes boss Rodgers took Edouard to Celtic from Paris Saint-Germain in 2017
• Now Rodgers views him as the long-term replacement for veteran Jamie Vardy
• Several clubs have courted the Frenchman, including both Arsenal and Roma.
Celtic fans will not be happy if the player goes for so little in the end up. PSG are due a chunk of any fee which means the profit margin would be ridiculously low.
We know Eddy won’t go for as much as he could’ve last summer but we have to take into account the EPL pundits and fans laughing that Kieran Tierney only cost Arsenal £25m, branding him a massive bargain. We were also undercut on the van Dijk deal at £12m only for him to go for over £70m just a few years later.
There has to be more to any deal than what’s being reported. I imagine a huge sell on clause for Celtic if the player does end up at Leicester.
