BRENDAN RODGERS hailed his loan star’s performance yesterday then made note of a permanent deal being a possibility come June.

Odsonne Edouard got his first real chance to show what he could do in yesterday’s game against Motherwell and bhoy, did he leave a big impression.

There was a fearlessness in the young Frenchman’s play, he looked to make positive runs, passes and even was selfless when he was initially going for his hat-trick.

Three goals in an absolute rout must have been bliss for Edouard who has had to wait a while for his chance.

The PSG player was man of the match and was given high praise by the Celtic boss.

“I felt we needed more movement in front of Motherwell and in behind them so we decided to go with him.” Rodgers explained.

“And it was as good a display as you’ll see from a young player at that age. He had everything.

“He now needs to be a real killer in the box like he showed for his first goal. For his second he finished it really well and the third is great anticipation from him.

“He has really settled in now after having to bide his time.

“You can see the quality he has and there’s the possibility to sign him at the end of the loan.”

Celtic do have first refusal on the player but that fee is believed to be around 8million Euros. A hefty fee for such a young player.

  1. well done with your blog, I alway’s enjoy reading it and find it quite informative and interesting, I hope that Odsonne reaches his full potential and continues to develop and impress, he has a talent, no doubt about that, for me he will only improve under Brendan and him before Moult every day of the week.
