CELTIC have a big summer ahead and the future of Odsonne Edouard is at the top of the list when it comes to playing staff.

It’s expected the striker will move on after this season but we don’t know what the final price could before the Frenchman.

There’s no doubt Eddy would have gone for more last summer when he still had two years left of his Hoops deal. As we enter the final months of the season, by the time it’s all said and done, there will only be a year left on the Celtic talisman’s contract. That fact alone will drive down the price.

However, it’s imperative Celtic do get the most out of any deal which takes the frontman away from Glasgow. For two reasons; we need as much money as possible for a replacement and rebuild, and the reported sell-on clause PSG hold on the player

Mail Sport reported last year the sell-on clause sits at 40% which seems wild for Celtic.

There’s no distinction made by the report if the clause means 40% of the overall fee or 40% of the profit after Celtic’s fee to PSG has been cleared, which was around £9m.

Either way, if MailSport are correct, it would be a decent chunk of cash going to the French giants. Nobody else is reporting off their own back about the sell-on fee, and any publication we’ve come across has cited MailSports article rather than back it up.

There has been talk of a £21.6m bid from Arsenal [Transfer Podcast].

If Celtic did the deal at that price and the 40% clause pertained to the entire fee; it would mean Celtic handing over £8.6m to the French club.

If it’s 40% of the profit; the fee would be just over £5m.

That’s just a for instance, there’s scope for Celtic to get more or less depending on the demand for the French under 21 international.

  1. Celtic need to start a bidding war amongst the interested parties and not settle for anything less than £35-40 million
