Lazio Marketing Chief Marco Canigiani has made the admission at this moment in time Celtic fans outnumber Lazio supporters for this Thursday’s Europa League game.

The Italian club has only sold around 5,000 briefs and have to close part of their north curve section down after being found guilty of racist chanting during the Rennes game.

Lazio made over 9k tickets available to Celtic who have been selling the tickets to season ticket holders only. The rules and regulations around getting into the Stadio Olimpico are very stringent with Celtic warning everybody going they won’t get in if their ticket name doesn’t match their passport.

Speaking about the game and the ticket situation, there could be an embarrassing scenario for Lazio with Celtic having the majority of fans inside the stadium but Marco Canigiani believes business will pick up before Thursday.

“A bus service will be available for Lazio-Celtic, but it’s directly proportional to the demand from the fans for this match.” told the Italian press as cited by SunSport.

For the game on Thursday, we’ve sold over 14,000 tickets but the majority of that number has gone to Celtic.

“We expect a growth in sales of those available to Biancocelesti fans.

“Thursday will be an important match in terms of qualification, the team will need support for it.

“The prices are also very reasonable for Thursday’s match.

“Hopefully we can be in the majority at the Stadio Olimpico considering there will be around 9,000 fans from Scotland in the away end.”

Neil Lennon will take his bhoys over, regardless of the crowd and look to get a positive result to take a point or all three back to Glasgow.
