Emilio Izaguirre looks like a prime example of why players should probably never return to a club where they had great success the first time around.

The Honduran left Celtic two seasons ago only to come back in last year on a short term basis to be cover for Kieran Tierney. The defender did his bit for the team but it appears after signing in the summer of last year he was already looking for a way out in January. This is when Kieran’s hip injury was becoming very serious and with the physios baffled on the best course of action for the Celtic star, they would have to rely upon Izzy to deputise.

Since leaving Celtic, Izzy has been very clear he’s desperate for a move to the MLS. Shorter commutes between international games and an American adventure is something the player is very keen to do.

Izzy has claimed he could have made that move in January had it not been for Celtic throwing obstacles up. Considering Kieran Tierney’s situation at the time and Celtic bringing back the player when he was without a club, the player nonchalantly throws it out that he would have jumped ship in the winter had it been his choice.

“I had offers in January and Celtic didn’t let me go. I had offers from the MLS. My agent only told me that Celtic put a lot of obstacles in the way”, he told Goal.com

Ultimately, when the dust settles, Izzy will be remembered for his first spell at the club and good luck to him in the future. We hope he gets his wish of playing in the MLS.
