It won’t come as a surprise to many that Brendan Rodgers is willing to let Ryan Christie go this summer after the midfielder has barely featured so far for the bhoys.

Christie, 23, spent a year and a half on loan at Aberdeen where he had a good amount of success with the fans taking to him well.

The midfielder came back to Celtic this summer with a view to breaking through to the first team but it’s not panning out so far and it only stands to get tougher now Celtic have signed Daniel Arzani.

There is so much competition in the attacking midfield area of the Park for Celtic that it won’t just be Christie who will be disappointed.

This is where Sunderland come in.

Former St Mirren boss Jack Ross has made an enquiry about Christie’s availability and is ready to end Christie’s Celtic stint by bringing him in on an initial loan deal with a view to buying the player.

Although the English transfer window is closed, EFL clubs are still permitted to bring in loan players and Sunderland are looking to take advantage of that.

If Christie is made available then he could join the Black Cats before the deadline.
