It has been reported, over a week on from the transfer window closing, Celtic tried making a move for Chelsea youngster Ian Maatsen.
The 18-year-old has now moved to Charlton on-loan for the rest of the season and MailSport revealed Celtic were an interested party before they final signed Diego Laxalt on deadline day.
Celtic were linked with a lot of left sided players in the end and Maatsen never came up in the lead up to the window closing.
If there was interest, the player was most likely on a list of targets at best.
Charlton now get to see what the player is all about. The English club might have dealings with Celtic in January, Alfie Doughty has been on Celtic’s radar all window but the Lower league side wouldn’t play ball. Alfie is heading into the final six months of his contract in January and would be available to sign a pre-contract.
