MICHAEL OWEN predicted Celtic would get a draw in Rennes and that’s exactly what he did but the former Real Madrid striker had a bone to pick with James Forrest who he believes took a dive to win the penalty which led to the equaliser.
The pundit did say Celtic deserved the equaliser and should’ve had a penalty when Ryan Christie was fouled in the box earlier in the second half.
Owen believes James Forrest played for it and it wasn’t a penalty to Celtic.
“Celtic deserved this because they didn’t get the first one.” Owen told SunSport.
“But to me, this isn’t a penalty.
“Forrest has certainly played for it. He sort of drags his leg and just decides to dive a bit.”
It was a night of bizarre decisions where Celtic looked comfortable against a Rennes side who have been flying high in their domestic league.
The bhoys gave as good as they got and could have had all three points on another occasion.
Ryan Christie converted the penalty for Celtic with a well-taken strike. If you’re looking at what’s a penalty in this day and age then James Forrest may have played for it but the defender had stuck his leg out in reaction to Forrest’s quick movement and as soon as there’s contact it’s a penalty. Christie’s was more blatant.
Goodness Gracious Great Balls of Fire,Now now Mr Owen,Mendy the Goalie and a few Rennes Players should be playing Woman’s Fitbaw. They kinda reminded me of Porto☘
Spot on Green Machine, pretty sure he wanted Celtic to get a result, but no mention of Rennes cheating and antics. Hail Hail
