Ange Postecoglou has been so successful at Celtic so far, it means the Australian’s linked to most job that comes up in the English Premier League.

The sacking of Jesse Marsch has set of a new round of debates down south the the Scottish media gleefully joining in.

Former Crystal Palace chairman and TalkSPORT pundit has a different take on Ange Postecoglou and why he’s unlikely to cut and run from Celtic.

Jordan believes most managers see Celtic as a stepping stone and it’s why Brendan Rodgers left the club when Leicester came calling. However, in this instance he believes Ange is a man of integrity who wouldn’t leave Celtic high and dry.

“He’d be someone that I’d want to talk to although I’m not sure this would be the right time for Ange Postecoglou,” Jordan told talkSPORT.

“The tragedy for Scottish football is that managers see Rangers and Celtic as a stepping stone. As soon as grown up clubs from the English Premier League come calling, they want to make the jump, like Steven Gerrard did.

“I think Postecoglou is a bit different though. He doesn’t have the same relationship with the Premier League. He’ll have got the memo about it being the best league in the world, but he seems to have a backbone and integrity.”

Ange Postecoglou is hopefully closing in on back to back titles, and is still building this team. There will come a time when he does move on but Celtic fans will be hoping that’s much further down the road.

While Celtic fans are rightly irritated about rumours of a potential exit, it shows just how much progress Ange has made. People were laughing at Celtic when they appointed the Yokohama Marinos boss, now everyone wants a piece.

  1. They are desperate for him to do a Brendan/Gerrard/Beale…..

Not going to happen. Unless he becomes unhappy which I don’t think he will, for a while at any rate.
