Whether you see it as a knee-jerk reaction or well overdue, there are many Celtic fans this morning who have seen enough of Dorus de Vries in goals.

The 37-year-old who has stepped up since Craig Gordon went out on the long term injury list had been growing in confidence in the past few games – then Zenit’s second goal happened.

The long range strike looked saveable and Dorus seemed to misjudge the flight of the ball. After the game, Dorus blamed ‘knuckle ball’ type action on the shot threw him off and was a goalkeepers nightmare.

Last night has leade many to call for Rodgers to drop one of his first Celtic signings for the second time and put Scott Bain in his place.

Bain was brought in as purely backup and the manager did not envision a scenario where the Dundee keeper would get meaningful game time. However, could Brendan be set to rethink that come Sunday?

  1. Shocking performance last night fron Celtic, Lustig, De Vries, Simunovic, nowhere near good enough. How many soft goals do we lose in European games? The players seem paralysed with fear in these games, The Zenit players did not have to be at any great level to play us off the park last night, As for the Knuckle ball, He is a ball that needs Knuckling after that car crash display, We now have to pick ourselves up for sunday hopefully Brendan gives Bain the nod, Don’t think my heart will hold out if the knuckle ballbag is in our goal!!
