News coming out of Newcastle is that they have scouted one of Celtic’s star strikers Leigh Griffiths on several occasions.
Rafa Benitez is said to be very keen on the striker after seeing him put England to the sword back in the summer and club scouts apparently watched him during Celtic’s 3-0 win over Anderlecht and recent 2-1 defeat to Bayern.
Newcastle are mid-table at the moment but things can change quickly in the EPL and Rafa wants to consolidate his position by bringing in a striker who wouldn’t have an outlandish fee attached.
Celtic have two main strikers and unlucky for Newcastle the clubs are in the position where they don’t need to sell anyone.
That puts Celtic in the driver’s seat and there is absolutely no way they’d let go of Leigh on the cheap.
It would also remain to be seen if Leigh would even fancy leaving Celtic for Newcastle in the first place.
