Celtic fans are firmly focused on Jesse Marsch right now as they look beyond this season with hope for the future.

The club has been so quiet when it comes to Neil Lennon’s replacement and who it might be, it’s left us all scrambling and looking about for clues.

We’ve all seen the quotes from Jesse Marsch over the past 25 hours. There appears to be genuine enthusiasm from the support over the Salzburg boss and it’s easy to see why. Various sound bites and interviews from the manager in the past have shown Jesse to be an astute tactician who looks at the bigger picture.

He has worked with some incredible talent so far in his managerial run, but none more so than Erling Haaland. The Norwegian striker is fast becoming the best striker in European football, he and Jesse got time together at Salzburg before he made the move to Dortmund.

Speaking in November last year, this is what Haaland said about his former coach:

“Jesse and I had a great relationship. We still talk on the phone sometimes. He was an amazing manager for me, and we had some great memories together.” Haaland told CBS Sports.

“I am lucky to have gotten to know him as a coach, but also as a person. He was very good with me. As you saw, I was very happy on and off the pitch in Salzburg. Even though it was just six months, it was a good time. He is an amazing guy.”

High praise indeed.

Celtic need a manager who can bring on young talent, make them better and give them the confidence to succeed.

We just don’t know what Celtic are thinking because we’re not sure who’s in charge of picking the next manager. Is it all down to Dermot Desmond? Is the outgoing Peter Lawwell and new man Dominic McKay having discussions? Or is a Sporting Director going to pick his own man?

These questions make it difficult for Celtic fans to have even an educated guess on what’s coming next.
