CELTIC utilised a fairly young and inexperienced squad on Wednesday afternoon due to the fact some of the more senior players have just rejoined the squad and weren’t ready to be thrown into a game.

The young players did well and helped the Hoops to a 3-1 win. The goal scorers on the day were two first team strikers in Albian Ajeti and Odsonne Edouard, but it was Owen Moffat who scored the best goal of the game with a great finish from just inside the box.

We’re told some of these young players won’t feature in the squad for much longer; many are likely to head back from Wales to prepare for the Lowland League season. It will be very interesting to see who is asked to stay in the first team set up for a little longer.

We now know the Euro boys like Callum McGregor and David Turnbull will be back at the weekend against Charlton.

“We’ll see how everyone is, obviously the lads who played today were the ones who have been with us from the start.” Ange Postecoglou told CelticTV.

“We’ve just got to make sure we don’t throw guys in too early but looking at the international boys and some of the others, they’ve come back in good condition.

“So I think they’ll play a part on the weekend.”

Celtic have a massive Champions League qualifier just around the corner and we need our best players as prepared as they can be.

James Forrest has been a huge miss for the squad this week with the midfielder isolating in Glasgow. James came into close contact with a positive case and couldn’t travel with the squad.

He will likely be going through his paces at home and hopefully will be up to speed in time for the qualifier.
