Celtic striker Leigh Griffiths has been handed a possible boost to make the Euros squad as it was confirmed that Sheffield United frontman was officially missing out on the tournament through injury.
I’m devastated that I suffered a fractured metatarsal which ruled me out for the rest of the season and has unfortunately ruled me out for the euros. Not to be able to go to that tournament with the boys is heartbreaking for me. Thank you for all your messages and support❤️? pic.twitter.com/EatnJSNjde

Ahead of Wednesday’s squad announcement, it seems unlikely that the 30-year old Hoops striker will make it in Steve Clarke’s squad. However, he has been handed this slight boost and also the fact the squad has been extended by three to 26.
It hasn’t been a great season for Griffiths as a whole but some are backing him to make the squad as an outside shout.
At an international tournament, things such as fitness which Griffiths has struggled with this season, won’t be seen as much of a problem with the possibility of the striker coming off the bench to make a late impact in the game.
There will be guaranteed options in the frontline, who are expected to make the squad. But it will be interesting to see if Griffiths is included as a wildcard type pick for Clarke.
