The Europa League draw is this afternoon and while the disappointment of not making it to the Champions League group stages still lingers this could be just the ticket for getting out of the European grumps.
Celtic are in Pot 2 for the draw and all 4 pots have some cracking teams in them. IF I had it my way I would look for Celtic to get paired up against the best of the teams from each pot.
Beating ANY of these teams in the Europa League is not a given so why not test ourselves against the best this competition has to offer. I want Celtic players to raise their games because Dortmund are coming to town and I want them to dig in deep if the Monaco millionaires end up in the East end of Glasgow.
While it may be appealing to some for Celtic to get a so called ‘weaker’ set of opponents as I said above there is no guarantee Celtic will be able to conquer them so why not go for glory against the bigger sides.
I know this wont make sense to some who will want an easy passage through to the last 32 but we Celtic fans like our big games and if Dortmund came to town you would be sure Celtic Park would be electric.
Fingers crossed we get one of these marquee teams to get the fans talking and help pick them up after the failure on Tuesday.
I have highlighted the teams in bold that I would like Celtic to get. Although I will just be pretty happy if we managed to land Dortmund.
