Celtic’s fellow Group G Europa League opponents – Real Betis and Bayer Leverkusen, played out a 1-1 draw in Seville this evening.

After kicking off this week’s European fixtures with a 2-0 victory over Ferencvaros, the two sides who currently find themselves sitting in the 1st and 2nd position with the group held each other to a score draw.

A win in the next fixture for the Hoops against Ferencvaros would guarantee European Football after Christmas at the very least, which would see them dropping into the new Conference League competition.

Of course, there is still a chance of many twists and turns within European group stage football, and we have seen that over the years in different competitions.

At this point, if we can pick up the three points in Hungary, we might need to hope that Ferencvaros can do us a favour against the Spanish side or that we can get something away in Germany on matchday five, before a showdown in the final game at Parkhead in December.

As previously mentioned, it’s about taking it one game at a time, and Ange is quick to state that point too. So our focus remains on league action until the next critical European fixture in Hungary at the start of next month.
