REPORTS during the week claimed Everton were set to lodge a record breaking bid for Celtic’s Kieran Tierney but these reports seem to be wide of the mark.

While the Premier League club are interested in taking the left back to Goodison – it’s believed that they will mount a bid much lower than the £25million reported and hope to convince Celtic of future add-ons for one of their star player’s.

Celtic are well versed in the art of the deal nowadays and always make sure that any player heading out the door already has future fees and sell-on clauses attached to them so the club can reap the rewards further down the line.

With Kieran Tierney though, he is so valuable to the club that Peter Lawwell would have to see a sizeable upfront fee for the club to even look twice at any deal on the table.

Tierney is under contract until 2023 and loves playing for the club.

There is always going to be a scenario where his transfer is possible but how bad do Everton want the lad?

It’s a cynical world where money motivates but it’s not always the case and even if cold hard cash was discussed between the 21-year-old and the Premier League club, it would still not be a foregone conclusion.

  1. Celtic don’t really want ro sell, if a big bid (More than 25m) is tabled, KT or his agent would. Be dumb not to persue it. KT could see himself going his burd or wife say’s so. Or the lure of big big moolla and better living conditions than Glasgows fish bowl. I porsonalky hope he does stay. Its up to him. HWGFATT.

  2. Why move to Everton? They are not a top six club. Tierney is clearly a clever lad not solely motivated by cash. He will see himself as a Dalglish or a McGrain and be under no pressure to leave ubtil 2024 at the latest. He will have three or four more goes at the CL, sign a new contract, be the captain of Celtic and still be only 26. He moves on to a top CL club as a Celtic legend or he stays to become possibly the greatest Celt of all time. He will earn 25-30 grand a week in the meantime winning trebles for the club he loves. Nice work if you can get it. Or grab the cash at Everton and be one of ten clubs struggling to make the top ten in the well paid but overrated EPL. Decisions, decisions.

    • KT is staying for 10inarow. At least. He will be a well off millionaire by then…why go to a middle of the row English outfit where he will win nothing!!!

    • Why move to Everton? Because it would be a massive step up domestically. Everton had a bad season, were managed by different three coaches, and STILL finished 8th. Imagine what they will do with a settled backroom and smart recruitments?

The lad would get games in a very competitive league which will only help him develop further.

Be interesting to see what happens after all, “everybody has a price”.

  3. KT going nowhere
    10 IN A ROW “PRICELESS”
The SMSM is only interested in dismantling our double treble winning champions, they try to cover up their hatred of Celtic by saying “for the good of the player, and in his best interests” they don’t give a dam.
In their inbred sick eyes it’s the only way to stop our history making side making more history
    FECK EM
HERE WE GO 10 IN A ROW
