Former Celtic striker John Hartson believes that Leicester City a getting a very good deal in their reported pursuit for Odsonne Edouard.

Taking to Twitter, Hartson admitted he couldn’t help thinking that the Hoops were getting ‘screwed over’ with a deal of around £18 million reportedly getting closer between the two sides.

Of course, with Edouard being the club’s record sale and the talent he possesses, you would imagine we originally hoped to get more for the 23-year old.

However, the Frenchman’s contract situation plays a key part in this transfer deal.

As he enters the final year of his deal at Celtic this summer, this is the boards final chance to cash in on Edouard. With plenty of sides interested, Leicester looks to be the ones who have won the race.

The one thing about this deal is that it could be key going forward in getting more funds for the new managers to rebuild his squad.

There is a lot to be done, and you would imagine Edouard is only the first of many movements within the club this summer.

  1. The player could’ve extended his contract by one year and still been sold in this window and Celtic would’ve received a higher fee instead of a paltry £18m. The last league you want to be shafted by is the English – they already have an abundance of money so they should be paying the going rate.
