Former Celtic goalkeeper and fans favourite Artur Boruc played a hand in new right-back Josip Juranovic joining the club.

As quoted by STV, speaking to the media for the first time since joining the club, the Croatian full-back revealed that ex shot-stopper Boruc, who was a teammate of Juranovic at Legia Warsaw, played a part in the defender moving to Parkhead, with his glowing reference of the club.

“He was telling me this is a big club with big support behind him,” Juranovic said. “He is one of the reasons why I am here.

“I know I have made a good step because Celtic are a huge club in Europe and also because the manager plays with very high full-backs and attacking football.”

“I am so excited, and I cannot wait for Sunday,” he said. “I spoke with Artur, and he said it is a huge game. That’s what I want, maximum pressure, and you must concentrate 100 per cent from the first to the last minute because if you make a mistake, it’s a huge mistake for the team.”

Boruc is remembered fondly by Celtic fans for his time with the Hoops, and it is nice to see that the Polish keeper feels the same way, sharing his experience and memories with the right-back who recently moved to Glasgow.

If we can get as much out of Juranovic as we did out of Boruc, fans will be left absolutely delighted, and we would have a player on our hands.

Fingers crossed it isn’t too long before we see the right-back in action as he prepares to battle it out for a spot in Ange Postecoglou’s squad with Tony Ralston.
