Former Celtic midfielder believes if Celtic players were in charge of the decision to appoint the next manager of the football club, John Kennedy would get the nod.

The Hibs star was speaking on Superscoreboard when he let it be known how involved Kennedy became during the Brendan Rodgers era.

Allan was in and out of the club on loan during that time but made the case Kennedy has learned from the best and even learned not what to do after a season of discontent.

“I think if you were to ask the players there is probably a lot of them that would be for John Kennedy.” The former Celt told SSB.

“He had quite a lot of say in what Brendan Rodgers done and as the years went on he started to take more and more training.

“I think it’s a hard one because he’s been put with some of the problems that have been there this season and toward the end of last season as well, so it’s a difficult one.

“He knows the club, he wants to play the right way, and he’ll of learned from Neil Lennon, and see some of the mistakes he has made and some of the good things that Brendan Rodgers has done.”

You’ll be hard pressed to find a Celtic fan who will agree with this. The managers jobs shouldn’t be decided on popularity contest but who is the best man for the job.

John Kennedy has been in the thick of it for so long, it becomes harder to find solutions and bring on players he might have prejudged too soon.

A new manager gives everybody a fresh look and there’s always one or two fringe players who hugely benefit from that.

John might be an astute coach but he’s just not what we need at the moment.

  1. Article poorly written at the start , because you don’t name who the former Hibs player is , although obviously we know . You will make a great journalist

  2. Kennedy is not wanted by most fans and they will not be buying season tickets based on his current performance as interim coach, An example being putting on an additional striker with 5 mins to go, when chasing a victory for a must win match. He appeared very slow to react to a tactical change that most fans could see.
No doubt popular with the under performing players and as a result you would get a continuance of the poor results, he is not there to be their pal, but to get results.
