EX-Celtic defender Efe Ambrose has broken Hibby hearts everywhere be invoking a clause in his contract which allowed him to leave in January – 6 months before his deal is due to expire.
Ambrose had his ups and downs at Celtic but the player was never accepted by the Celtic support even though he was part of the side which helped down Barcelona back in 2012.
Since moving on from Celtic, the Nigerian has been one of Neil Lennon’s best signings for the Easter Road side and the Hibs fans seem genuinely gutted to see their defender go and not only that but go for nothing.
In a statement, Hibernian told their fans they did everything they could to hang on to Ambrose but in the end, he had made his mind up to move on.
?| Hibernian FC can confirm the departure of Efe Ambrose after his move to invoke a contractual clause that allows him to leave this month.
?The club made every effort to keep Efe but respect his decision and wish him well.

There has been interest from Cardiff in the Premier League, but the player’s next destination is not yet known.
We wish him all the best as Efe leaves Scottish Football.
Efe was a enigma. Neither Celtic nor Hibernian played him in midfield like he often played with Nigeria. I rated him, but after being played out of his country posision he did flounder. I wish him well, as you can’t win them all. Did like his goal celebration though.
