As Celtic fans anticipate more movement from the club in the transfer market, Johan Mjallby has called for patience, reckoning that in time, Brendan Rodgers will get the right players to strengthen his squad.

Under two weeks out from the season beginning, there have yet to be any outfield additions at Parkhead.

Indeed, the champions are arguably in a weaker position now than what they were at the end of last campaign given Paulo Bernardo and Adam Idah have returned to their parent clubs.

Fans are becoming growingly frustrated with the current situation, but Mjallby reckons the Hoops will make some quality additions in time.

“There are five or six weeks of the window still to go and I expect some really good reinforcements to be added”, he said (Sunday Post via RecordSport).

“I’ve no idea what the transfer budget is for players this summer but I would expect it to be a really healthy one.”

It remains to be seen how much Celtic will eventually shell out on incomings this summer, but Mjallby doesn’t think there is much of a difference in the quality of players teams can get for £6/7m or £15m.

“It could well be Brendan is able to look at the market for players in the region of £6 or £7million”, said the Swede.

“I think that players in that price range are not too different from some players at £15 million.

“But winning titles and trophies must never be taken for granted. That’s why more new signings are required.”

Rodgers will eventually strengthen his squad but remained tight-lipped when recently asked about incomings.

The gaffer said he is hopeful he can get players in and knows his team needs improvement.

Time will tell whether his wishes are granted.
