Ex-Celtic loan star and treble winner Ramon Vega has thrown his name into the ring to become the next FIFA President after the former defender revealed he has received ‘positive’ feedback about his candidacy.

The former Swiss international has decided to run for the powerful role in June when voting will take place and it’s suggested Vega will be the only one to stand against current FIFA president Gianni Infantino who replaced the disgraced Sepp Blatter four years ago.

With the speculation mounting about his potential candidacy, the footballer turned hotel mogul confirmed his desire for the top FIFA job.

Vega said: “In light of the encouragement and positive feedback from many quarters, I have decided to put my name forward.” as reported by SunSport.

Vega spent some time at Celtic during his career on loan from Spurs where the big man helped Martin O’Neill’s side to a famous treble during the Irishman’s first season at the club.

Vega has talked up how much he loved his time at Celtic and how he regrets not staying longer at Celtic Park.

Could the treble winner become the most powerful man at FIFA?
