Former potential managerial candidate Jesse Marsch has been appointed as the new boss of English Premier League side Leeds United.

The American coach, formerly of RB Salzburg and Leipzig, was mentioned as a surprise option for the Celtic job in the summer, as the Hoops went on the hunt for a replacement for Neil Lennon.

The 48-year old spoke fondly about the club, with Celtic helping him to achieve his UEFA coaching badges in Scotland.

However, despite initial excitement from some sections of the support, that move was quickly ruled out, which ultimately led to Celtic’s chase for Eddie Howe and the eventual appointment of Ange Postecoglou.

Since then, it has been an interesting few months for Marsch, who ended up at German Bundesliga side RB Leipzig this season, taking charge in the Champions League against sides such as Manchester City and PSG.

However, after a poor run, the American coach parted ways with his former side, which has led to his move a few months later with Leeds United, who parted ways with Marcelo Bielsa yesterday afternoon.

It would certainly have been intriguing to see Marsch as Celtic manager in a move that never really felt possible at the time.

But, it is fair to say, I think a lot of fans are delighted with what we have seen from current manager Ange Postecoglou in that time.
