Celtic midfielder Callum McGregor has insisted that he and his Hoops teammates are full of confidence as they prepare to head into a crucial period in the season.
The Celtic captain is one of the veterans in the side, having gone through a massive period of success in the club’s history, lifting nine titles in a row, along with four trebles on the bounce between 2016-2020.
McGregor has thrived in his new role within Ange Postecoglou’s squad, leading by example throughout the season, taking the side into a position of strength at the top of the Scottish Premiership heading into the business end of the season.
Speaking to Sky Sports this afternoon, McGregor insisted that the players are hungry for success during the high pressures of challenging for trophies as they remain in the hunt for another treble this campaign.
“It’s exciting times. This is what you want as a professional footballer, at a big club where you are expected to win things, then this is the most exciting time and the most exciting period.
“The players look ready; they look hungry and are training well. We’re looking forward to the game on Saturday.
“So, we’ll just take each game as it comes, continue to work hard on a daily basis and see where that takes us come the end of the season.
He continued, “We’re always drip-feeding information, (whether that be) the manager, experienced players. So, it’s just trying to do that on a daily basis.
“But we do that with the way we train and the way we conduct ourselves as well. The new players have been absolutely fantastic up until now. They understand it; they get the responsibility that they have to the supporters and to the club.
“So I’ve got no doubt in my mind that if we keep on the right track and keep working, we stay humble and like I say, we keep working until the end of the season, then we’ll see where that will take us.”
Although it is a very new squad, for the most part, they have handled the pressures of winning every week very well, taking it in their stride and learning every week.
Added in with players such as McGregor and Joe Hart, it stands the squad in a good place, heading into the final push this season.
The coming weeks in the aftermath of the international break could prove crucial in defining our season trophy wise. But as usual, Ange and the squad will be remaining focused on one game at a time, which comes on Saturday against Ross County.
