For fans attending UEFA Champions League matches at Celtic Park, the sight of three empty rows circling the pitch might seem puzzling, especially considering the high demand for tickets during these coveted European nights.

However, this odd feature isn’t due to a lack of interest or ticket sales—it’s tied to the commercial realities of modern football.

John Paul Taylor, Celtic’s Supporter Liaison Officer, has previously explained that the issue stems from advertising requirements during UEFA matches. On European nights, advertising boards are placed that obstruct the view from the first three rows. To ensure that fans have a clear line of sight and a quality viewing experience, Celtic chooses not to sell these obstructed seats.

Despite the necessary sacrifice, the atmosphere at Celtic Park remains unparalleled on these nights.

When Celtic got their noses in front on Tuesday night against RB Leipzig, the roof came off Celtic Park.

The atmosphere at Parkhead is always electric, and fan groups are constantly looking at ways of improving it.

One of the plans proposed by the Green Brigade and Bhoys Celtic is The Celtic End, but not much progress has been made on the idea, which has been limited to cameos in Women’s games.

Uefa make the rules Celtic just looking after supporters but what a night of football fair play to RB Liepzig they played wellbeing Celtic players clicked mind we missed three good chances yes three years in Europe we have learned it’s hard cause we do come from a smaller league we dominate every game home and away opposition play low block(parking the bus) and i can’t blame them Cektic just cut through teams look at Aberdeen and RB liepzig could RB liepzig complain if it was more we slowed it downdkept position then when a gap came they stepped it up yes manage the came last twenty minutes and our subs never looked out of there debts you might ya the young south Korean getting games in front of forest and palma he’s got great dribbling skill now he’s settled in this country completely different culture to what he is used to great time to be a Celt

  2. I don’t understand why Celtic have not extended Celtic park the cost will be spread over many years so repaying should not be a problem and the extra revenue tickets food drinks club shop etc will bring in millions we are told there is thousands on the waiting list for season tickets the directors say it would cost around £100 million but in today’s stadium upgrades it’s chicken feed .

    • It wouldn’t surprise me if we have some major stadium works in the coming year. The problem with developing the Main Stand is really one of what we do with those 8000 people, pretty much all of whom are season ticket holders, while the works are underway.
