There is a letter doing the rounds on social media claiming an agreement between Celtic and Rafa Benitez. We’d just like to make it clear right now, that it’s a wind up. We know how social media works and this could spread quickly.
The picture shows a letter with all Celtic’s information then a sign off by Peter Lawwell. It’s caught some fans out already. Documents like that, apart from that one transfer target doc which famously went public, don’t get out.
Also, if you’re paying closer attention, the phone number on the letterhead ends in a familiar number.
Celtic fans are looking to the future and would like to see a blockbuster managerial appointment but we’ve been let down with that before.
We dreamed big and hoped the board would aim for someone as high as Rafa when Rodgers left the building but they went with Neil Lennon which has now backfired.
We can’t envision a scenario where Celtic hire a middle of the road type manager and the stadium is full to capacity when we’re allowed back in the door.
There needs to be ambition and intent, we hope to see it but if you’ve seen that letter and got your hopes up, file it under ‘obsession’.
