Every summer or winter transfer window, there seems to always be a few names that Celtic are linked with without fail.
One of the most relentless links over the past few years has been Ireland internationalist James McCarthy. And once again, he has been linked with a move to the club.
According to journalist Alan Nixon, McCarthy is a player who is being discussed as a possible midfield target for Ange Postecoglou’s side.

McCarthy recently became a free agent after being released by English Premier League side Crystal Palace at the end of last season.
The Irishman has spent 11 years down south with sides such as Everton. It is thought that he would jump at the chance to join his boyhood heroes, though.
Reports in the last few weeks have suggested Celtic and Postecoglou are looking into adding another player in the midfield area, so there is always the possibility of once again targeting the 30-year old.
Too old and too injury prone , we all know it’s a non starter
Injury ravaged? Check
Over-rated? Check
Past 30? Check
Unwanted? Check
Overpaid? Check
But he’s free and Irish? FOUR-YEAR CONTRACT!!!
Good player but wouldn’t be able to adapt to the constant high pressure game ange is trying to play.
