TRANSFERMARKT.co.uk is source of some great stats and information. However, when it comes to its own transfer valuations and how they decide who’s worth what, the whole thing becomes a farce.

Enter exhibit A; the site has not only valued Ryan Kent more than Celtic star Jota, but they’ve decided to publicise it on their social media.

It’s absolutely ludicrous to suggest Kent would be on a par with Jota when it comes to a transfer valuation never mind being ahead of him.

Jota has been in Scotland 18-months and has the same number of trophies as Kent who has been playing for the Ibrox club since 2018.

This season, Kent has played 22 times for his club scoring one goal and contributing six assists. In comparison, Jota has made 17 Celtic appearances, scoring seven goals and creating six more – two of which came in the Champions League.

Last season Kent made 46 appearances for his club scoring just three and contributing with an impressive 19 assists. Jota played 40 games, six games less than Kent, racking up 13 goals and 14 assists. Picking up two trophies to Kent’s one.

Simply put, on what planet would Ryan Kent be worth MORE than Jota?

TransferMarkt’s valuations in general are very poor. How they come to their decisions is crazy. The ridiculous top ten full of Rangers players who absolutely wet the bed last season over top emerging talent like Matt O’Riley and Reo Hatate is laughable. Then you have guys like Josip Juranovic who is about to subject to a bidding war and will go for far more than most of the players in that top ten , if not all.

  1. More fiction for them to take to the “bank”. But they have inherited the disillusionment from their predecessors. They lived in lala land too!
